So, you're trying to become a citation master, huh? Well, buckle up, friend, because we're about to dive into the wild world of MLA in-text citations with two authors. It's like a party in your paper, and everyone's invited - except for plagiarism, of course!

In all seriousness, citing sources is crucial, and when you have two authors, it can get a bit tricky. But don't worry, we've got this! When you have two authors, you'll need to include both of their last names in your in-text citation, separated by and, like this: (Smith and Johnson 24). Easy peasy, right?

The Basics

So, what's the big deal about MLA in-text citations, anyway? Well, it's all about giving credit where credit is due - and avoiding plagiarism like the plague. When you're citing two authors, you'll want to make sure you're including both of their names in your citation, unless... unless they're like the dynamic duo of research, and you're citing them multiple times.

In that case, you can use a shortened citation, like this: (Smith and Johnson 24) becomes (Smith et al. 24) - but only if you've already cited the full reference earlier in your paper. Don't worry, it's not as complicated as it sounds - just remember to always check your sources! And, fun fact: did you know that the MLA style guide is updated regularly to keep up with the changing times?

Exceptions to the Rule

Now, you might be thinking, "But what about when I have two authors with the same last name?" Well, that's like the citation equivalent of a game of "Twister" - it can get a bit tangled! In that case, you'll need to include the authors' first initials in your citation, like this: (J. Smith and K. Smith 24). It's like a special citation party trick - just remember to keep those initials straight!
